GreyOrange and Zebra Technologies are working together to give retailers a clearer, real-time picture of what’s actually on their store shelves.
The new partnership combines Zebra’s SmartLens overhead RFID technology with GreyOrange’s gStore platform to track item-level inventory and spot shelf gaps as they happen. The idea is to help store teams fix out-of-stocks faster, cut down on canceled orders, and spend less time doing manual inventory checks.
Inventory accuracy remains a stubborn problem for many retailers, often leading to missed sales, wasted labor, and headaches when fulfilling online orders from stores. With overhead RFID readers scanning items throughout the store, retailers get a live view of inventory without relying on traditional cycle counts.
GreyOrange’s gStore platform takes those RFID signals and turns them into clear, real-time tasks for store associates, showing exactly where action is needed. The companies say this helps stores move away from reactive work and toward faster, more focused execution.

The system also works alongside existing handheld RFID tools, allowing retailers to build on technology they already use. In an early rollout at a national fashion retailer, the solution helped push on-shelf availability as high as 98%.
“Retailers don’t struggle because they lack data—they struggle because they can’t act on it fast enough,” said Troy Siwek, General Manager, gStore by GreyOrange. “By combining Zebra’s SmartLens technology with gStore’s real-time intelligence and orchestration, we’re turning continuous inventory insight into precise, in-store action that improves availability, fulfillment, and store productivity.”
