Uber Freight is expanding its last-mile delivery work through a new partnership with Better Trucks. This Chicago-area company handles tens of millions of e-commerce packages a year. The deal gives Uber Freight access to Better Trucks’ delivery network and technology, letting its customers send orders from stores or fulfillment centers directly to people’s homes with greater speed and visibility.

The partnership also includes a strategic investment from Uber Freight, which the company said will help grow its end-to-end logistics offering. That service brings together everything from first-mile sourcing to final delivery, and also connects to Uber Eats and Uber Direct as part of the company’s broader last-mile strategy.

Better Trucks brings several tools that Uber Freight will start using, including:

  • Connected tech: The company’s open API connects with more than 50 logistics and e-commerce platforms.
  • Sortation support: Uber Freight can stand up or strengthen service at seven sortation centers.
  • Address checks and geocoding: These tools help verify addresses and build more accurate routes, improving first-attempt delivery.

With this added capacity, Uber Freight said its asset-light network now reaches about 68% of the U.S. population. The company said this move puts it in a better position to act as a full supply chain coordinator, especially as retailers push for quicker, more reliable home delivery.

“This strategic investment will allow us to immediately enhance our delivery solutions for shippers,” said Rebecca Tinucci, CEO of Uber Freight. “Better Trucks’ track record in efficient, tech-driven solutions, combined with their expanding network, enables us to offer our customers unparalleled speed and flexibility.”

Marie Druckenmiller, Senior Director of Strategy & Planning, Last Mile at Uber Freight, told Logistics Management that Uber Freight has been working with Better Trucks for more than a year in a traditional supplier relationship. During that time it became clear that Better Trucks’ technology, infrastructure, and operational expertise were a powerful complement to Uber Freight’s network.

“As e-commerce volumes grow and shippers look for and expect more consistent, faster, and better tracked last-mile delivery, we saw an opportunity to deepen the relationship,” said Druckenmiller. “This strategic investment formalizes what we’ve already seen in practice: combining Better Trucks’ capabilities with Uber Freight’s end-to-end network creates more reliability, speed, and coverage heading into peak season and beyond.”

The announcement comes as retailers prepare for the holiday rush. Uber Freight said customers using its End-to-End Logistics service are already seeing better first-attempt delivery rates and stronger customer satisfaction, especially in busy metro areas.
