The U.S. Postal Service says it delivered mail and packages faster over the 2025 holiday season than last year, and customers noticed.
Between Nov. 15 and Jan. 9, USPS delivered about 16 billion pieces of mail and packages in an average of 2.5 days, compared with 2.8 days last holiday season, the agency said. On-time delivery scores were better nearly everywhere, especially at the last-mile delivery level.
“These results reflect the tenacity of our workforce as well as the network improvements we continue to implement,” said Postmaster General and Chief Executive Officer David Steiner. “We will keep improving service throughout the coming year — optimizing our network, strengthening reliability, improving delivery times, and ensuring high-value products and services for residential and business customers in every community we serve.”
Calls to USPS’s customer support line dropped significantly compared with last year’s holiday season, and package-related questions were down even more. Overall satisfaction scores rose by more than six percentage points, according to the agency.
“Customers entrusted us with billions of letters, cards, and packages, and we delivered — faster than last year and with strong consistency across the network,” said Deputy Postmaster General Doug Tulino in the release.
